Anne Amie Vineyards: Small Business Blog of the Day
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): April 27, 2006
Today's addition to Wine Week comes from Oregon. Oregon's wine industry has recently been assessed at $1.4 billion according to an article mentioned by today's featured website. That's a lot of grapes.
What it is
Anne Amie Vineyards is the result of Oregonian philanthropist, Dr. Robert Pamplin, Jr., purchasing the historic Chateau Benoit Winery in 1999. The vineyard's blog is written by Craig Camp, the general manager of the vineyard.
Features
Posts about the wine industry, reprints of wine articles, notes on the wine making process at Anne Amie, and mentions of the 'vineyard club' make this a well-rounded and smart business blog.
Favorite Post
Here's a post announcing their wine they call "Amrita." According to wikipedia, "In Hindu mythology and Buddhist mythology, Amrita is the drink of the gods, which grants them immortality." The post begins with a joke:
"In Oregon what do you call a clear day after two days of rain?"
"Monday"
Further Comments
This is the first winery I've seen that actively includes their monthly wine club in the blog. Many of the vineyards that I have mentioned have wine clubs, but no one seems to be talking about them on their blogs. Anne Amie does this pretty well while not coming across as self-promoting.
