Brad Sucks: Small Business Blog Interview
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): April 25, 2006
Brad wrote back! Here's the guy I've been describing as looking like a cross between Duncan Sheik and James Blunt, while sounding like Beck. Brad Sucks, Brad's band blog, was featured as the Small Business Blog of the Day on April 23. Enjoy his answers to the notorious questions...
Pajama Market: How has the blog impacted your company?
Brad: I've been blogging since the very beginning so I can't say. Personally it provides me with a lot of feedback from readers/fans that I wouldn't necessarily get otherwise. It's hard to keep going at the modest level I'm at without some encouragement from an audience I think.
PJ: What has the response been from your customers/clients?
Brad: People seem to like it. Not everyone has the patience to keep up with reading a blog every day. I think the most interesting response is that I'm perceived as an expert about certain things that I write about simply because I blog about them. I'm the digital equivalent of a crazy guy ranting on a street corner here and people are inviting me to conferences.
PJ: What types of things about your work day inspire you to write a post on your blog?
Brad: Whining. I have to resist the urge to only blog my complaints and rants because I know it'd get boring just hearing me moan about stupid things. So instead of that I try to share things that interest me or things I feel like I have something to say about.
PJ: What have been the biggest surprises with your blog so far?
Brad: The surprises primarily come in the form of relationships I'm maintaining with people that I don't realize. For instance I'll mention a company in a post and someone from that company will email me or something equally odd. It's a small world and blogging makes it even smaller.
PJ: What blogging program do you use for the blog? Did you create this blog yourself? How do you like the program?
Brad: I use Wordpress 2.0 and it's fantastic. I recommend it to everyone. The only part I'm not so happy with lately is that the rich-text posting interface is a bit slow and quirky. But you can turn that off for now and I'm confident they'll iron the issues out.
