Serge Lescouarnec: Small Business Blog Interview
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): April 12, 2006
Not surprisingly, Serge the Concierge responded to my little questionaire super-quick. I think his blog is the first blog I've come across that also uses TypePad for their format (or at least admits it).
Pajama Market: How has the blog impacted your company?
Serge Lescouarnec: It has given us extra credibility, access and coverage with the media.
PJ: What has the response been from your customers/clients?
SL: They like the informative tone. We try to walk a fine line between information and self-promotion. We have tried to include more useful tips in our posts over the past month or so. A lot of our clients and prospects are women so we will add information relevant to them.
PJ: What types of things about your work day inspire you to write a post on your blog?
SL: Conversations and feedback from others, things we read in print, books and on blogs, spur of the moment as in the case of ‘world water day’. I usually have a list of ideas for posts. I also contribute once a month to ‘Wine blogging Wednesday.'
PJ: What have been the biggest surprises with your blog so far?
SL: The large percentage of readers from outside the US.
PJ: What blogging program do you use for the blog? Did you create this blog yourself? How do you like the program?
SL: I use Typepad Pro. I created the blog myself. The name ‘Serge the Concierge’ was given to me by Debbie Galant of www.baristanet.com who wrote a piece on us last year. I generally like Typepad especially their ‘support’ team. I was nevertheless frustrated last year when they had repeated server troubles. I am considering moving to a different platform that would allow me to organize the site differently. I also recently had a logo designed for the blog and will use it for T-Shirts and the like.
