Elaine Mooney: Small Business Blog Interview
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): May 4, 2006Elaine from the Sainte Genevieve Winery in Missouri replied to my questions recently. Somehow, I forgot to send her an email when I featured her blog on PJ Market (it happens). So here are her responses. A few days late. All my fault.
Pajama Market: How has the blog impacted your company?
Elaine Mooney: I have only been doing the blog for about 2 months, so it's hard to say.
PM: What types of things about your work day inspire you to write a
post on your blog?
EM: This is a family business, so I think it's inspiring to share that dynamic with people. Plus, our vineyards are not open to the public, so this way I can share with my customers what the vineyard looks like since they can't be out here. We also built a new winery facility, and I am looking forward to showing that in some pictures also. I have a personal blog, and I love it, and I found myself writing on my personal blog about winery stuff, and thought it might be good if our customers knew all the work we are putting into this business, and where will be for tastings, and also I am a wine judge, so thought it would be fun to showcase that. If I wasn't a winemaker, I would have probably studied journalism, so this satisfies that part of me.
PM: What have been the biggest surprises with your blog so far?
EM: I have a link to the blog from the website, and I am surprised more people don't click on the link to the blog. I think I need to rewrod, or highlight the blog more.
PM: What blogging program do you use for the blog? Did you create this blog yourself? How do you like the program?
EM: I use blogger. I am familiar with it, since I have the personal blog with blogger also. I like the program. It's free. I know nothing about html, but I can add a thing or two if it's explained in black and white to me. I will probably add a link on the blog about the article.
