Park City Mountain Resort: Small Business Blog of the Day
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): May 23, 2006Today's blog comes to us from an article titled The bottom line on blogging from the Kansas City Star. The blogs in the article are mostly either big corporate blogs, or blogs we've already featured, except for this gem...
What it is
Park City Mountain Resort is the blog for the ski resort of the same name in Park City, Utah. The blog is written by several employees of the resort and is noticeably busier during ski season. There is a nice picture of each of the writers in the navigation bar as well as a short bio on their about page.
Features
Mostly posts about the resort, the weather, the conditions, and promotions. Some posts include photos of the resort (which we love), and the posts are varied in length from a few brief lines to several paragraphs.
Favorite Post
A new way to experience the mountain... is a great post showing the usefulness of a company blog to its customers. The post explains how one of the ski lifts is down for repair and then explains clearly alternate ways for visitors to get to the top of the mountain. Clearly, this is the website you would visit the morning you head to the slopes!
"Luckily Bonanza serves more as an access lift, meaning all of the runs which it services will still be open. Another good note is that we will now be opening the lifts early tomorrow morning at 8:30 am to alleviate any congestion in the Base Area, I would suggest you take advantage of it. How should you access the mountain? There are three different ways..."
Further Comments
Lately, the blog has not had many entries, and this is too bad because there is still plenty going on at the resort even though summer is right around the corner. Being a Vermonter, I know how much skiers look forward to their coming vacation. If visitors can read something exciting about the resort every couple of days, they might be worked up into an absolute frenzy by the time they visit.
