This blog doesn't qualify as the Small Business Blog of the Day
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): May 10, 2006I have had several requests over the past couple of days to review websites, and I thought I would highlight one as an example of what I'm not looking for.
Mad About Madrid is a good example of a website that approaches the guidelines I have set out for the Small Business Blog of the Day, but doesn't quite make it.
First, this blog is a very good blog. It's a travelling blog for Madrid, and if I were to ever visit Madrid, this is definitely the blog I would want to read before I went.
If this blog were written by a travel agency, a restaurant in Madrid, or any business in Madrid that benefits from tourism, this would make a great example of a Small Business Blog under our guidelines. However, the main stream of revenue from this blog seems to be from Google and affiliate advertisements, not from products created by the author. This is what disqualifies this blog from our website (guideline #2: the blog must be a business that sells an actual product or service).
I would like to thank Alun John for submitting his website for consideration and allowing us to use it to further clarify our guidelines.
