Ha Ha Ha!: Small Business Blog of the Day
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): June 9, 2006Aloha! This blog will make you laugh.
Today's blog comes from the comment section of our submission guidelines. I'm still sifting through many of the comments here and looking at the blogs when I get the chance. Thanks for keeping the suggestions coming.
What it is
Ha Ha Ha! is the blog for Hamakua Springs Country Farms located on the Hamakua coast on the big island of Hawaii. Leslie Lang is the "Chief Blogger" for the family farm specializing in bananas, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and watercress. I am surprised to find that the blog is brand new (since May 17), yet there is already a fair amount of information that paints a nice picture of the company.
Features
Posts are very specifically about the farm. You can learn how all the fruits and vegetables are grown, how they are sold, what the marketing process is, find some recipes, and see what the family is like. On Mondays, Richard Ha updates us on how his diet is going.
Favorite Post
Uncle Tomato shows the product in action!
"You know, back when I was in high school and the macho image was everything, if someone told me that in my later years I would be known as The Banana Man and Uncle Tomato, we would have to go behind the gym, scrap."
Further Comments
I really love this blog. First of all, even though all blogs follow a pretty routine format (or at least they should), Ha Ha Ha! is particularly clean and beautiful. Secondly, the posts are very much on-task, each one contributing to the overall goal of adding to the personality of the farm. Even the posts about Richard's diet add to this aspect by humanizing the company, as well as showing how the company's products are contributing to his health.
They have lots of pictures on the blog (excellent), they show their product in all their lusciousness, and the posts are light and entertaining as well as informative (meaning they are well-written). Soon, they will need to add a search box to the navigation bar, but they can last another few weeks before that would bother me.
Aloha!
