A Painting a Day: Small Business Blog of the Day
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): September 19, 2006Today's blog is pure genius.
What it is
Duane Keiser paints one postcard-sized painting nearly every day, posts a photo of his painting on his blog called A Painting a Day, and sells them through eBay for at least $100. His most recent paintings have sold for $455, $635, $305, $510 and $303. That's between September 10-18. Duane lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Further Comments
The simplicity of this site speaks for itself. This is the most brilliant use of a blog I've ever seen! I'm inspired! I think I'm going to start a blog called A Stained Glass Cathedral Window A Day. I'll make a premium just in shipping charges.

Hi Brian
Here is another similar site to inspire you:

This time from the fields of Provence.
What impresses me is the comments he receives from people who have missed out on buying one of the pics.
Talk about customers pleading to buy!

Hey Brian, Did you bid on the PB&J painting? :-) Duane was in a USA Today piece a few weeks ago, touting the advantages of the internet to independant artists looking to get eyes on their art through blogs. If you google his name - you can find/read the article.

Thanks Craig. I'll check it out.
Hi Belinda. No, I didn't bid on it. I see it just sold for $1,500. Not bad for a day's work.
I've read the USA Today article and I'm sure that helped his exposure greatly. That's one of the big benefits of business blogs right now, they are a bit of a hot topic in the media and if you're one of the few people who has one, you are likely to be interviewed about it.

Another artist that is very inspiring and his work is always mind blowing is Darren Maurer www.miniaturemasterpieces.blogspot.com His work is right there with Duane and in some ways even more stunning. He is by far my favorite daily painter.
