Is Technorati being attacked?
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): September 22, 2006I've been trying to visit Technorati for the past hour or so and can't seem to pull up their page. Furthermore, I can't seem to find any news about them online, so I thought I'd throw out this plea...does anyone know what's wrong (if anything) with their site?
I've been having some problems with Technorati lately as they have failed to show Pajama Market having a post for the past 29 days. As much as I love what they are doing, their service doesn't seem to be very good. I'm surprised there are no real competitors trying to take advantage of this problem, as I've read many other websites also having the same problem.
What is Technorati? They are a search engine that searches only blogs, and they track how blogs link to each other. For example, they show that 100 other blogs link to Pajama Market, and they show all the latest posts created by Pajama Market (although that's 29 days behind at this point). They are a great service, and even though they're glitchy, you must open an account with them (they're free) and register your blog on the service. It will guarantee traffic if you are registered.

They've been down or, as some have reported, so slow as to be equivalent to being down for two days now. The problem for bloggers is that wherever you have their script on your page, your website will not load past that point until after what seems like an eternal delay (15-20 sec?).
I've remedied the problem by removing their script. I wonder how many others are removing Technorati's script and, of those, how many will put it back?

WOW! So not only are they AWOL, but they are causing websites with their little logos on them to have problems too!?!?
What a HUGE customer service issue. If only Google Blog Search could add a couple of features, no one would need Technorati any longer.
