Blog Dos # 12: Provide better customer service

We all love companies that take care of us! At the Sizzlin' Grill this morning, it was the server knowing I wanted a Pepsi instead of coffee before I could even tell her. At Woodman's grocery store this afternoon, it was the massive selection and option to drive the car up to the door to load the trunk. At the movie theater the other night (in Vermont), it was the new machine that dispensed tickets if you had a debit card, allowing you to avoid the long lines (yes, I know they've had these elsewhere for about ten years, but this is the first place in Burlington and it's cool).

People like to feel special, important, and appreciated. When customers have good experiences, they return to the same business to have that experience again, and again. Pretty simple right?

Use your blog to find new ways to serve your customers. How? Here are just a few ideas:

1) Write a post that says, "What can we do better?" or "What product do you wish we made?"

2) Read the comments that others write on your blog and answer them. If one reader writes a comment, many others are probably thinking it and you will be responding to all of those readers at the same time.

3) Answer emails on your blog, especially if they are questions about one of your products. This creates a tremendously useful resource for your customers to be able to track down quick solutions to small problems they may be having.

Finally, recognize that readers enjoy your blog because it's about them, not you. The more you write about what matters to your readers, the more readers you will have.
