What do I charge as a blog consultant?

by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): January 26, 2007

I received several emails today asking what I charge. Frankly, I hate it when I find a website with the product or service I want and no place can I find how much it costs. Usually there is an email link with a promise to get back to you with a quote.

Clearly I'm guilty of this annoyance because I've stated that I'm a blog consultant on this site for a while, but no where can you find out how much my services are without calling or emailing me. Dumb dumb dumb.

So here it is:

Initial consultation is $100 for one hour.

Blog package is $499. This is my main service. The original $100 for "initial consultation" may be applied to this.

Additional consultation is $100/hr.

It's pretty rare that anyone asks for "additional consultation," at least for a few months after their blog has been created.

The other two charges you will have will be Typepad's hosting fee of $15/month, and GoDaddy's website address fee of about $7/year.

I do insist that my clients use Typepad as their blogging platform for a variety of reasons, the most important is because their spam filters are the best and easiest to use.

I'm currently working on the checklist that details every little thing I do for the blog package. Please email me if you would like a copy of this checklist. My email is frisco3 [at] gmail [dot] com.
