Where is Typepad support?
by Brian Brown (follow me on Twitter): May 1, 2008
So...as you can see, I've messed up the layout of my blog pretty horrendously. This is what happens when you play with the style sheet and accidentally delete half of it without having a backup copy lying around.
Rather than try to reconstruct the many many parts that I deleted, I contacted Typepad last night through their support ticket service and asked them to replace my style sheet with the one that was being used on Tuesday.
I'm a little concerned though. That was about 13 1/2 hours ago and I haven't heard a peep from them. For most web hosts that I've dealt with, this wouldn't be too much of a problem. Usually, a web host will back up all the files on a server every few nights.
But I haven't heard anything one way or another. What exactly am I paying $15/month for?
Enjoy this "new" format while it's here. Limited time only (I hope).

The problem with Typepad and Wordpress (might as well throw in blogger) is that they are built for journalism not for business.
They expect you to be both technical and a citizen journalist. This is why they don't include support. They can't imagine a blog as something really important to a business.

Thanks for your comment Chris. No offense, but I don't really buy that excuse.
Customer service is customer service. One of Typepad's functions is to serve as a webhost for their blogs.
At $15/month they are one of the most EXPENSIVE web hosts out there. I'm having a little trouble understanding why this simple issue is taking them more than 20 hours now to respond to.
And here's the thing. I don't even mind if they don't fix it. I just need a response one way or the other. If they can't fix it, I CAN. It's just a lot of work I'd rather not do.
But if I start to fix it, and four hours later they respond, they will wipe out all the fixin' I've done.
I just can't believe they are this bad. I liked Typepad till today.
